Tamez, Aztecs Sink Tacos Again in Game 2
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of designated hitter Caton Tamez, the Chihuahua Aztecs stopped the visiting Tabasco Tacos, 4-1, in Game 2 of the Mexican Championionship Series today. Tamez was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times for the Aztecs, who now lead the best-of-5 series, 2 games to 0.
In the bottom of the first, Chihuahua second baseman Bennie Lord had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Lord stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 1-0, Chihuahua. For the game, he was 1 for 4.
"We're one game closer to our goal," Chihuahua manager Martin Ortega said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."
The next game is set to be played for Monday, October 2nd , 2051 at The Taco Stand.
