Black Bears Heading to A- Championship Series
|
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the New York-Penn League Regional Championship Series. It turned out quite a bit different.
The West Virginia Black Bears swept aside the Batavia Muckdogs to advance to the A- Championship Series, winning the final game by a 6-1 score at Dutchess Stadium.
The series MVP was third baseman James Shafer, who hit .375 with a .412 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 4 runs.
"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."
The A- Championship Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Regional Championship Series finishes.
