Silverados Bridle Clippers, 2-0
|
The Napa Silverados picked up a win at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, knocking off the Martinez Clippers, 2-0. Starting pitcher Gerardo Samora was an essential part of his team's success. The Clippers fall to 9-12 and continue to sputter in the early going.
The Silverados got a big at-bat from first baseman Mario Yamagata. For the game, Yamagata was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Napa a 1-0 lead.
Afterward, Silverados manager Jorge Leston was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
