The Napa Silverados took Martinez pitcher Cash Thomas's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The final score had Napa getting past the Clippers, 6-4. Thomas went 5 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 3. Napa reliever Ashley Brotherton was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Sylvan Bakke. The Clippers fall to 10-14 and continue to sputter in the early going.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Napa trailing 4-2, Mario Yamagata jumped on a full count fastball from Sylvan Bakke for a grand slam home run, sending the Silverados to a walk-off win.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Yamagata told the Napa Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."
