Orioles Get 5-2 Win Versus Oakland
|
Behind an impressive start by Max Ibbotson, Baltimore beat Oakland, 5-2. In 6 innings, Ibbotson surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Pat Judd earned the save, his 8th, for the Orioles.
The result might have been different for Baltimore, had it not been for Tony Goerner, the 27-year old first baseman . Goerner stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Baltimore up, 4-2. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We had a good game plan," Ibbotson said, "and we were able to execute it."
After today's action, Baltimore sits at 32-44; Oakland slips to 35-41.
