9-3 Win for Cincinnati Hard-Earned
|
The Cincinnati Reds beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 9-3, in 11 innings. Cincinnati first baseman Cristian Harden, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3 for 5 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. With this game in the books, Cincinnati is 42-36, St. Louis 44-34.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Johnny Honshorst to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Reds on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said St. Louis manager Zachary Norat.
