Royals Suffer 4-2 Road Loss
|
Cleveland turned a fine outing from starter Ted Carr into a victory over the London Royals at Tecumseh Field. The final score was 4-2. Carr, the winner, moves to 2-4. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks. Lee Shape recorded the save for Cleveland, his 4th of the season.
Ned Weston had a big 2-run triple for the Indians in the bottom of the third inning. With Cleveland leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a sinker from 35-year old right-handed pitcher Cato Ambros and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Indians ahead, 3-0.
"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Carr.
The American League Pons Division-leading Indians are 47-32.
