|
Seattle Mariners pitcher Rusty Tucker whisked his team past the Baltimore Orioles, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Tucker, now 6-3. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 7. Seattle, at 58-21, is 12½ games up in the Western Region Northwest Division.
Ty Moss, the 26-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Moss contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put Seattle up, 3-1.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Tucker said.
