Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Blaze
|
Carson Jones was instrumental in his team's 4-2 triumph over the Ventura Gulls. The shortstop went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs for the Bakersfield Blaze. Jack Langford, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. Amari Abercrombie earned the save, his 2nd.
Late-game drama came in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Bakersfield shortstop Carson Jones hit a 2-run single, helping his team get the win.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Jones.
The win gives the Blaze a record of 2-2.
