Tigers Stay Hot with Extra-Inning Win
|
Starting pitcher Matt Telecky gave the Detroit Tigers a rock-solid performance, helping them defeat the Memphis Blues, 3-2, in 10 innings. Detroit reliever Braxton Vaughn was the winner. His record is now 6-3. The losing pitcher was Ernie Longie. The win makes Detroit 49-34.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Detroit second baseman Alfredo Vázquez, facing Rory Lunsford, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Tigers the 3-2 win.
"Everybody in here is a professional. You have to do what you have to do," said Telecky.
