Blue Jays Beat Falcons, 6-2
|
Toronto center fielder Gael Villarreal helped his team beat the Fresno Falcons, 6-2. Villarreal, who finished 3rd in the EAST in batting average with .314 in 2050, went 3 for 4 for the Blue Jays. Toronto starter Kevin Alessandroni was credited with the win after throwing 102 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 9-2. Brent Brown earned his 9th save in 12 chances.
Mike Asawawong dealt the Falcons a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Toronto leading 3-2, Asawawong, who is on pace for 99 RBI this season, hit a first pitch screwball for a 2-run single.
"This team is real focused right now," said Toronto manager Matt Martin.
The Blue Jays have an impressive 61-24 record.
