Late Offense Lifts California to 4-2 Victory
|
Though he had a great game, Ethan Redding could not single-handedly produce a win for Pittsburgh. California won the game, 4-2. Redding went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times. Curtis Keegan earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record is now 5-5. Ryan Chandrasekar nailed down the save.
California used the timely hitting of Clement Christmas to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Angels on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Pittsburgh manager Aaron Calderon. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
At 36-51, the Angels claim last place in the American League Pons Division.
