Black Bears Win in 13
The Virginia Black Bears topped the San Francisco Giants, 4-1, in Eastern Region action at Oracle Park. The standout performance belonged to Virginia pitcher and Berkeley, California, native Chase Erickson. Tommy Pine, now 4-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 5 hits in 3 innings. The last-place Black Bears have a record of 32-56.

Virginia used the clutch hitting of Richard Chilekwu to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 13th inning to give the Black Bears the lead, 2-1. For the game, Chilekwu had 1 single and 1 double in 7 at-bats.

"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Black Bears manager Jacob Crenshaw.
