The Cleveland Indians overcame a good performance by Texas left fielder Germano Centeno to knock off Texas, 6-5, at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Centeno was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Cleveland reliever Lee Shape was the winner. His record is now 4-4. The losing pitcher was Calvin Spence. The save went to Francisco Vergara, his 22nd this season.

Had Ferdinand Puello not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Puello hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Indians.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Cleveland manager Justin Jackson.

The last-place Rangers now sit at 35-54.
