The Portland Hops faced a tough opponent in Miami pitcher Casey Kramm, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The BeerGarden by a final score of 4-3. Kramm went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win belongs to Dave Nixon in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Kato McGuffie took the loss for Miami. The last-place Hops lifted their record to 36-54.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Portland shortstop Ben Schubert, facing Kato McGuffie, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Hops the 4-3 win.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Schubert said.
