Indians Pick Up 3-1 Win Over Toronto
|
Starting pitcher Kendall Matthews fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Cleveland Indians stymie the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-1. The winner was Matthews. He threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Teddy Lopez. With the win, the Indians have a record of 40-50.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of William Kniceley to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Indians on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Kendall really held it together well," said Cleveland manager Johnny Cal.
