The New York Mets met little resistance from the Arizona Diamondbacks, beating them, 12-1, at Citi Field. Ermengol Abrego led the way. He was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5 for New York. New York pitcher Bylent Claus got the win, upping his record to 6-10. Jacoby Young got the loss. The Mets sit in last place in the American League Sandoval Division with a record of 38-55.

With New York leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Abrego hit a fastball from Jacoby Young for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Mets ahead, 3-0.

"We lit up the scoreboard," said New York manager Jim Cheatham.
