Floundering Red Wave Lose 8th Straight
|
In a low-scoring clash between Ventura and Riverside, pitcher Nick Brass was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 win. Deonarine Murdianto notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. Riverside, now 5-20, continues its dreadful start.
Coming to the plate with no one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Ventura left fielder Douglas Jackson had a chance to be the hero. Facing Riverside pitcher E.J. Newberg with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Jackson, who is tied for 4th in the CAL in stolen bases with 6, hit a 2-run single.
"This place was electric at the end," Brass said.
