Paes Blasts 3 Home Runs in 13-4 Gulls Win
|
The Ventura Gulls easily defeated the High Desert Mavericks, 13-4, at Gulls Ballpark, with catcher Guilherme Paes a main contributor to the win. He hit 3 home runs, while scoring 4 and driving in 6 for Ventura. Victor Reich, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. The Mavericks, now 7-20, continue their sluggish start.
Javier García had a big 2-run double for the Gulls in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Ventura leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Levi Jacobs and swatted a double to right. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gulls ahead, 5-2.
"Winning never gets dull," said García.
