Athletics Earn 4-3 Win Versus Expos
|
The Oakland Athletics picked up a win at Olympic Stadium, knocking off the Montreal Expos, 4-3. On the mound for Oakland was right-hander Graham Gal, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner in relief was B.J. Vila. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-7. The save went to Jon Szymanowski, his 8th this season.
Oakland relied on the bat of Gerardo Campos to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Athletics ahead, 3-2. For the game, Campos had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
Montreal manager Dirk Botelho said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The Athletics now own a record of 36-63.
