Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Memphis Blues got the win.

Memphis pitcher Joe Borck had a large part in his team beating the Kansas City Royals, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The win was credited to 28-year old left-handed pitcher Santino Veira in relief. His record improves to 4-7. Charles Darlin took the loss.

The Blues got a big at-bat from third baseman Torquato Fajardo. For the game, Fajardo was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 24th double of the season gave Memphis a 4-2 lead.

Fajardo told a Memphis Gazette reporter that he was "delighted" with the win.

The 4th-place Blues now have a win-loss record of 58-50.
