Behind a fine performance from Bob Reader, the San Diego Padres knocked off the Portland Hops, 13-6. Reader was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Padres. The American League Sandoval Division-leading Padres are 65-44.

San Diego took advantage of an error in the top of the ninth inning. The game was tied, 6-6, when Simón Larreynaga hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Padres in front, 7-6.

"We came out aggressive," said Padres manager Asher Karczewski. "We came out swinging the bats."
