Falcons Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Cardinals, 4-3
|
The Fresno Falcons did just enough to sneak past the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-3, at Busch Stadium. Fresno pitcher Christopher Womack, in particular, had a standout performance. The Falcons sit in 4th place in the Western Region Pacific Division with a record of 55-56.
Fresno used a clutch hit from Isiah Alvarado to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Falcons ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Alvarado told the Fresno Observer.
