Expos Take Tight Tilt
|
The Expos faced a stiff challenge from Minnesota pitcher Justin Freedman, but persevered to claim a win at Target Field. The final score was 2-1. Freedman went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Montreal reliever Bob Charles picked up the win, upping his record to 8-8. Justin Freedman absorbed the loss. The save was credited to Max Mangan, his 4th.
Ricky Sytsma, the 28-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Sytsma contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Montreal up, 2-0.
"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Sytsma.
The victory gives Montreal a record of 65-48.
