Indians Collect 4-2 Win Versus Philadelphia
|
Cleveland pitcher Ray Bernard did his part in helping his team beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 6.1 innings, Bernard surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Sebastian Sienkiewicz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 25 of 28 save opportunities.
Cleveland relied on the hitting of Harrison Waite to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Indians on top, 1-0. For the game, Waite had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Bernard told a Cleveland Daily News reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
At 55-60, the Indians claim 4th place in the Eastern Region Great Lakes Division.
