Pirates Make Phillies 8-1 Losers
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 8-1, at Citizens Bank Park. Starting pitcher Royce Dovin was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The win gives Pittsburgh a season record of 63-53.
Pittsburgh used the bat of Gael Rumley to get the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Pirates ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Rumley. "Just do my job."
