The Virginia Black Bears did just enough to nip the Boston Red Sox, 5-4, in 10 innings. Virginia pitcher Calvin Kuhns, in particular, had a standout performance. The win went to Frost McMahon in relief. His record improves to 6-7. Santiago González took the loss. The 4th-place Black Bears are now 56-62, the Red Sox 51-67.

The Black Bears got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Ichabod Majerus. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Black Bears.

Majerus called getting the win a "good ending to a long game."
