Mavericks Squeeze By Bakersfield, 3-2
|
The High Desert Mavericks earned a close win over the Bakersfield Blaze, thanks in part to Tre Webster. The High Desert left-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Webster yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-0. Bakersfield is 2-1 after the loss.
High Desert used a clutch hit from Gavin Cavitt to get the win. The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mavericks ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
"Tre is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said High Desert manager D.J. Schultheis.
