Stephan Davis had a hand in Houston defeating Portland by the score of 5-3. Davis went 4 for 4 at the plate, scoring 1 times and driving in 2 runs. Steve Lee got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Jason Phillips closed the game out for Houston, earning his 5th save.

The Astros got a lift from shortstop Vasques Cortes, who in the top of the sixth stroked a 2-1 fastball into right for a run-scoring double. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Astros ahead, 2-1.

"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Cortes told the Houston Observer.

With the victory, the Astros record now stands at 61-61.
