Riding the 2-hit performance of the former first round draft pick Ethan Stevens, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Vancouver Cascades, 5-1. Ethan McNeal, who finished 2nd in the NL in ERA with 3.45 in 2057, was the winner in relief. His record is now 10-5. The losing pitcher was Lee Barnes. The Cardinals move to 63-59 with the win, while the Cascades drop to 69-53.

Asher Gautreau had a big solo home run for the Cardinals in the top of the third inning. With St. Louis leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a splitter from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Lee Barnes and punished it. The result was his 22nd home run of the season, which put the Cardinals on top, 3-1.

Gautreau told a St. Louis Times reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
