Martinez Beats Ventura, 3-2

Martinez Clippers starter Merlin Sweet turned in a sparkling performance against the Ventura Gulls, leading his team to a 3-2 win. David Weiher got credit for the save for Martinez. It was his 3rd of the year. The Clippers raised their record to 14-16.
Martinez took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Sebastian Grabe hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Clippers.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Ventura skipper Brad Puryear.
