Victory Takes Ignition to 74-52
|
Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Ignition beat the Black Bears.
Virginia got a decent performance from pitcher Chase Erickson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Indianapolis Ignition. Indianapolis won the PepsiCo Park contest, 4-1. Erickson threw 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. The Ignition improved to 74-52.
The Ignition got a big at-bat from left fielder Benjamin Nang. For the game, Nang went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Indianapolis a 2-0 lead.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Indianapolis manager Jose Gomez.
