Tigers Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Detroit Tigers withstood a fine game by London right fielder Miller Head at Comerica Park, to upend the Royals, 5-4. Head went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Detroit reliever Braxton Vaughn picked up the win, upping his record to 8-8. Austin Huey absorbed the loss. The 4th-place Tigers now sit at 70-59.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Detroit. That's when Theodore Valdes hit a 2-run double off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Austin Huey to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Valdes said.
