Colorado Sunk by St. Louis, 3-2
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a stellar performance from pitcher Landon Pederson, who handcuffed the Colorado offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals raised their record to 65-66.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Cardinals had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when designated hitter Tom Sheppard hit a 2-run single. The single came off Benton Hofmeister and made the score 2-0, Cardinals. Sheppard went 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Pederson.
