Braves Find a Way to Win
|
The Atlanta Braves topped the Montreal Expos, 1-0, in Eastern Region action at Olympic Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Atlanta pitcher Austin Defenbaugh. Atlanta is now 73-59, while Montreal is 75-57.
Atlanta used a timely hit from Phooka May to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 13th inning to put the Braves ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it made an impact.
After the game, Defenbaugh told the Atlanta Daily News, "Like I've always said, the challenge is what makes this game worth playing."
