Yankees Score Late, Upend Red Sox, 4-1
|
New York Yankees pitcher Aaron Barbetta was in fine form, leading his team past the Boston Red Sox, 4-1. New York reliever Nick Richey picked up the win, while Jake Laviolette took the loss for Boston. The Yankees go to 50-83 with the win.
Ryder Speyer hit a 2-run double off Jake Laviolette in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Yankees in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Speyer had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.
"I'm proud to wear a New York jersey," Speyer told the New York News. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
