Martinez Beats Rancho Cucamonga, 3-1
|
Mitchell Baxter pitched a gem to lead Martinez to victory over the Rancho Cucamonga Rattlers, 3-1. Sylvan Bakke earned the save, his 1st. The win moves Martinez to a record of 2-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, Martinez second baseman Pasqual Abreu had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and no one out, Abreu stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 2-1, Martinez. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with a walk.
"Mitchell was throwing strikes, locating well," said Martinez manager Jonathan Benton.
