Stompers Get 5-2 Win Versus Bakersfield
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Len Baker, the Sonoma Stompers defeated the Bakersfield Blaze, 5-2. Baker was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Stompers. Elvis Kellogg got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and no runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. At 21-18, the Stompers are currently 5th in the California League North Division.
With Sonoma leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Baker hit a fastball from Travis Messer for a bases-clearing double. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Stompers ahead, 4-0.
