Barnes Leads Silverados to 8-1 Win Over Ports
At Banner Island Ballpark, the Stockton Ports and Napa Silverados were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Napa Silverados beat the Stockton Ports, 8-1, at Banner Island Ballpark. The Silverados got a fine performance from first baseman Don Barnes, who was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once. Marc Rojas got the win, improving to 2-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 and walking 2.

With Napa leading 2-0 in the top of the second, Barnes hit a fastball from Sweeny Eberwein for a grand slam home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Silverados ahead, 6-0.

Barnes called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."

Napa currently is in 5th place in the California League North Division at 23-21.
