Ports Done In By Blaze, 8-1
|
The Bakersfield Blaze downed the Stockton Ports, 8-1, at Jim Perry Stadium. Stellar pitching by Max Horton had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the CAL with a 1.13 ERA, handcuffed his opponent all game. In 5.2 innings, Horton surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 5. He allowed 1 run. D.J. Huhn was credited with the save for Bakersfield, his 2nd of the season.
In the bottom of the first, 22-year old right fielder Dominic Aubin hit a 3-run home run. The 8th home run of the season for the Bakersfield right fielder put the Blaze on top, 3-0.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Aubin. "Those qualities define our team."
Bakersfield, now 31-20, holds down second place in the California League South Division.
