In a low-scoring contest, Santa Cruz pitcher Ian Damuth was marvelous in his team's 2-0 win. In 7.1 innings, Damuth surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Kelsey Whipple sewed up the save, his 2nd.

Ethan Leaver, the 25-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Leaver contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Santa Cruz up, 2-0.

"I believe in our guys," said Santa Cruz skipper Jake Braithwaite. "I like the energy they're playing with."
