Rattlers Alamillo Smacks 5 Hits
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Fidalgo Alamillo, it came around today.
The 25-year-old catcher scattered hits all over Recreation Park to pace the 8-6 Rancho Cucamonga Rattlers victory over the Martinez Clippers.
Martinez skipper J.D. Ray told reporters in the press room that "Alamillo deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Alamillo hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Fidalgo Alamillo singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Geddy Brittany in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far this season, Alamillo is batting .322 with 5 home runs.
