Gulls Turn Back Rawhide, 3-2

In a low-scoring affair between the Ventura Gulls and the Visalia Rawhide, pitcher Edward Best was the difference between victory and defeat. The Ventura right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Gulls win. Best, now 3-3, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Chipper Ruben earned the save, his 5th.
Trae Turner had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Ventura. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Ventura in front, 3-0.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Turner.
The 4th-place Gulls bumped their record to 26-24.
