Multi-HR Game for Clark in 6-1 Win
|
The 6-1 Modesto win over Pittsburg was due largely to Spike Clark. The Nuts right fielder was 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Brendon Palma, the winner, goes to 10-0. He allowed no runs on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts over 6.1 innings. Modesto, now 52-23, has won 11 straight games.
Loys Flores had a big solo home run for the Nuts in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Modesto leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Luca Paciocco and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Nuts on top, 2-0.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Flores.
