Rancho Cucamonga got a decent performance from pitcher Michael Landazuri, but it wasn't enough to beat the Riverside Red Wave. Riverside won the Roger Dean Stadium contest, 5-2. Landazuri threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Waylon Hollingshead recorded his 5th save for Riverside. After today's action, Riverside sits at 37-36; Rancho Cucamonga slips to 32-41.
Portland, Oregon-born Edgar Schröter came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Red Wave trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Riverside on top.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Riverside manager Jim Young. "It's usually not just one thing."
