Stompers Cut Down Gulls, 5-2
|
The Sonoma Stompers locked up a win at Gulls Ballpark, knocking off the Ventura Gulls, 5-2. On the mound for Sonoma was right-hander Rich Hyde. He played a major role in the triumph. Hyde picked up the win for Sonoma, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 6-5. Aaron Paterson picked up the save for Sonoma, his 12th of the year.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bryan Korpela? The Sonoma first baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Stompers on top, 3-0. For the game, Korpela had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Korpela.
