The Ventura Gulls called upon starter Nick Brass, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Martinez Clippers, 5-2. The Gulls, at 48-32, lead by one game in their division.
The Gulls got a big at-bat from catcher Jason Ardan. For the game, Ardan went 1 for 3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Ventura a 2-0 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Brass.
