Nuts 7-5 Victors Over Rancho Cucamonga
|
Rancho Cucamonga shortstop Ryan Holmes had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Holmes was 4-5 with 4 singles, even as Modesto beat the Rattlers, 7-5. Jim Manning, the winning pitcher, is now 1-0. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 12 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 2. Chip Allegro got the save, the 15th for him this season.
The Nuts got a big at-bat from shortstop Damien Dupré. For the game, Dupré went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Modesto a 6-3 lead.
"We took home the win," said Dupré. "What's not to like?"
At 45-33, the Nuts find themselves in third place in the California League North Division.
