Frappier, Cruisers Put Hurt on Clippers, 12-1
|
The Santa Cruz Cruisers routed the Martinez Clippers, 12-1, at Recreation Park. Felix Frappier was one of the hitting stars. He was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for Santa Cruz. The winning pitcher was Tony Troutman. His record now stands at 4-3. The left-hander went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits for the Cruisers. Santa Cruz is third in the California League North Division with a record of 55-29.
With Santa Cruz leading 2-1 in the top of the seventh, Frappier hit a fastball from Rick Aloe for a grand slam home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Cruisers ahead, 6-1.
"Sometimes, the runs just come in bunches," said winning manager Ferdinand Coleman.
