Giants Claim 5-3 Triumph
|
The San Jose Giants defeated the Bakersfield Blaze, 5-3, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Clay Brousseau, who is tied for 9th in the CAL in runs scored with 43, was a standout performer for San Jose. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Grayson Bell, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Earning his 23rd save for San Jose was Shawn Charles.
Brousseau had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from Sal Siebert, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the Giants a 4-3 lead. It was the 13th double of the year for Brousseau.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Brousseau after the game.
San Jose now sports a record of 53-28.
